On The Can (And Cannots)
In a pickle
A Teacher's Sonnet
First Time
The Scar on My Nose

On The Can (And Can nots)

Out there somewhere, up in the sky,
not quite as far as it seems
There's a goal that's reachable by and by,
and it's not confined to my dreams.

The gravity holding me down on earth
prevents me from lifting off, true,
Idealists have always had visions from birth
to achieve all they wanted to do.

Grounded by pilots who fly in the past,
taking one-engined planes into space,
They just fuel their antiques so memories last,
pretending they're winning some race.

People grounded on earth in their luxury cars,
have no vision, in fact, they would spoil it.
It's hard for my hands to reach out for the stars,
when they've glued my butt to the toilet.
Out there somewhere, up in the sky,
not quite as far as it seems
There's a goal that's reachable by and by,
and it's not confined to my dreams.

The gravity holding me down on earth
prevents me from lifting off, true,
Idealists have always had visions from birth
to achieve all they wanted to do.

Grounded by pilots who fly in the past,
taking one-engined planes into space,
They just fuel their antiques so memories last,
pretending they're winning some race.

People grounded on earth in their luxury cars,
have no vision, in fact, they would spoil it.
It's hard for my hands to reach out for the stars,
when they've glued my ass to the toilet.

In a pickle

In a pickle
Bread and butter, sour and dill,
Just give me a topic and I will
Write about it, now I'm perkin'
Chilli, crunchy, spicy, gherkin.
I'm on a roll, just can't stop,
Who opened this jar, and threw out the top;
Spears or whole, deli or sliced,
New or old, crunchy or spiced.
I'm out of words, I'm out of rhyme,
I'm so embarrassed, I stink from brine;
Come save me, what 'ere the cost,
Get me out of this pickle, "I'm-a-lost!!!"

A Teacher's Sonnet

A teacher made my daughter write
A simple little verse;
She said it had to rhyme just right
And to make the matter worseUse Iambic meter, any theme,
Regardless of the beat;
A(c)B(c)A(c)B rhyme scheme,
And the rhythm must be neat.So I wrote this poem, just to exercise,
That poems aren't always "right";
And to help the teacher realize,
That I'm doing this for spite

This final couplet doesn't rhyme
And there are also too many beats here in this here last line...

Ps: iambickering, aren't I?

First Time

The first time you have me, now naked you see
As your eyes travel down all my parts;
Your eyes caress knowing, that all of me's glowing
Looking forward to how it all starts.

I lie here before you, all exposed for you,
Continue what you have begun;
Don't think on it too long, just join in on my song
Come to me so we might be one.

There, now you're enjoying, the rhythm I'm employing
We now are much more than friends;
These words haven't lied, you're now right inside
And it's time to prepare for the end.

You didn't rehearse to prepare for my verse
But if you love me, then take me home;
The climax is near, but no need to fear,
After all, I am only a poem.

For you see, this poem is a “first time”,
Once read, my membrane is burst;
Words, like people, once experienced
Can only give you one "first."

So now if you read me again,
I'll be different, like a new treasure;
Each reading needs you in the process,
That's how I will live forever.

The Scar On My Nose

they wouldn't stick in the ground
so, my friend jimmy wishart used to
take his branches and
put 'em in the pencil sharpener.a circle on the ground

sixty feet yonder,
our lord of the flies spears in hand.
who could be the closest to the target?

that was the game.boredom in the backyard, one day
on twenty-second street
had us stealing each other's sailor caps,
running and dodging,

such boyhood fun! i took jimmy's hat
and there up on the wooden, slanted cellar door,
(remember all that coal beneath)
i held his hat above my head

and dared him like william tell.with javelin accuracy
he hurled it at me
to pin the hat
and that was that
.
